Every Bos & Glazier lawyer was previously associated with larger law firms. Each lawyer understands key benefits of a large firm:
Networking has enabled us to maintain the streamlined benefits of being small while allowing us to expand our capability, as needed, with no additional overhead expense to us and our clients. Our law firm has developed a reputation as effective, decisive, problem-solving troubleshooters handling both local and national cases. We have developed our network of A/V-rated law firms in three primary ways:
This network of A/V-rated law firms began when the image of the legal profession was at its lowest. Membership in this heavily-screened organization of top-rated firms currently includes lawyers in 23 states. All member have agreed to subscribe to the “six pillars” upon which the Primerus network rests:
ABA Leadership:Our firm’s senior lawyer is one of two trial lawyers in the state of Michigan invited to hold a responsible position in the leadership of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation. A close working relationship with many of the country’s leading courtroom lawyers has helped us develop another network within which to refer, or jointly handle, major litigation. Charlotte Anodizing Products Inc. v Newell Corporation is an example of such a case. Bos & Glazier together with a Chicago firm, handled this significant commercial dispute which ended quickly, with minimal legal expense to either side. Settlement was achieved through a diligent effort by both sides to rework a contract that had become unworkable. Refusal to allow tensions between the parties to interfere with a possible resolution of the case resulted in a better position for both sides. The case was referred to Bos & Glazier - rather than to a larger Grand Rapids commercial litigation firm - because of the network we have built within the Section of Litigation leadership.
Special Working Arrangements:Our firm frequently associates with other excellent law firms to handle major litigation throughout the country. We blend our strategy, case development and trial skills with similar skills of other fine lawyers. The most effective tool employed to win large-stakes litigation is a cohesive trial team managed by a senior lawyer who allows each team member to contribute what that lawyer is best capable of producing. Our firm has a growing reputation for keeping egos in check while bringing out the best of each team member. This reputation sets Bos & Glazier apart from many other firms and has allowed us to build special working arrangements with law firms throughout the country. For example, the Love Canal Case” had been pending in Buffalo, New York for sixteen years before Bos & Glazier was asked to try the case with lawyers from a Buffalo firm. Although previously settled-out parties had paid seven-figure fees to technical experts who had “prepared” the case for trial, the work product was insufficient. In less than six months, working with our Buffalo colleagues, we transformed the case with new experts for a mere fraction of the costs incurred by the settled-out parties. Our collective work product forced a settlement of this huge case on the eve of trial. We have developed similar working relationships with other firms throughout the country, including an “Of Counsel” relationship with a Los Angeles-based law firm, Meyers & McConnell. Bos & Glazier is thereby able to efficiently handle the largest of cases by quickly putting into place an excellent team of senior-level lawyers located in the most appropriate place in the country. Our clients have found that the total legal expense for these collaborative efforts is consistently less than the amount the same clients pay when a single firm puts a large team of junior-level lawyers on a similar case. At the same time, Bos & Glazier does not have to incur the substantial expense of “staffing up” for major cases. Everybody benefits - except the opposition.
